AIZOME furniture
Indigo is the world's oldest dye material. Aizome, the art of Japanese indigo dyeing, has a long history dating back over 1300 years and is commonly used on clothing, bedding, and Noren (traditional Japanese fabric dividers). I had the opportunity to visit Aizome studio "Watanabe Somemono Ten" in Gifu Prefecture, Gujo city, in my hometown. There, I was inspired after noticing the ladle used by the local craftsmen steeped in a beautiful deep blue. Furniture made of different materials but beautifully harmonized in indigo gives a sense of deep intimacy. This is AIZOME Furniture.
Regarding the chair, To joint the backrest, leg and seat smoothly, you can more feel harmony of the dyed wood and cork. The backrest and back legs has drawn by one stroke and wide width, That's why it is comfortable. To use the inner mesh under the cork seat, it can realize more comfortable.
The light is able to illuminate your precious object in the glass case by the LED. You can put inside what you want and joint lighting parts and glass case easily. The power supply cable is covered by the rope. It realize hanging the light and putting it on the floor by laying the rolled rope under the light.
「藍」は世界最古の染色材であり、日本では1300年前頃から衣服や暖簾、寝具などを染める「藍染」に利用されてきました。ある時、私は出身地の岐阜県郡上市にある藍染工房「渡辺染物店」を訪れる機会に恵まれました。その際に、染料を混ぜるための柄杓が異素材の組み合わせながらも、綺麗な藍色に染まっているのを見て、一つの閃きを得ました。藍色で一体に調和された家具は、深みのある美しさを持ちつつ、親近感も感じられる独特な表情を持てるのでないか。そうして、生まれたのが「AIZOME Furniture」です。
「AIZOME chair」座面と足や背もたれのジョイント部をシームレスに繋ぐことで、藍染された木とコルクの調和をより感じることができる。後ろ足と背面は、ワンストロークながらも幅広の帯で描かれているため、背あたりが快適である。コルクの座面は内側にオフィスチェアで使われるメッシュを使うことで、やわらかい座り心地を実現している。
「AIZOME light」好きなものを中に入れてディスプレイのように照らすことができる照明。テープLEDを使った面光源パーツをひねることで、ガラスケースを取り外し中にモノを入れることができる。電源ケーブルがロープになっており、柱に括り付けて吊るしたり、巻いたロープの上に載せることで床置きも可能。
